Questions parents ask
What makes these harder than the grade 2 games?
Longer words, all twelve times tables, puzzles that need several steps of reasoning (Sudoku, Tower of Hanoi) and computer opponents that play to win. Every game still starts gently, so a tired child can always win a round.
Are there games that teach typing?
Yes — Home Row Hero starts with the home row and builds up speed, and Typing Game turns it into a race. Ten minutes a day makes a visible difference within a few weeks.
Is anything on the site multiplayer online?
No. Two-player games share one screen. There is no online play, no chat, no accounts and no way to contact other players.

Eight and nine year olds want games that are actually hard, and this page is where the puzzles start to bite: Sudoku, Nonograms, Tower of Hanoi, Checkers against a computer that plays to win. The learning games move on too — every times table, fractions of amounts, capital cities and flags, typing with both hands.
The arcade classics are here at full difficulty, and the two-player games become genuinely competitive. If your child has "finished" the grade 2 page, this is the next one; if they are finding it too much, the grade 2 page has the gentler versions of most of these.
