Puzzles are the games parents feel best about, and the ones children stay with longest, because getting stuck and then unstuck is the whole pleasure. This page has 80-plus of them, from Memory Match and Spot the Difference for four-year-olds to Tower of Hanoi and Sudoku for ten-year-olds who like a real challenge. The classics are all here — 2048, Sudoku, sliding puzzles, Minesweeper (with flowers) — plus the newer ones children know from app stores: Unblock the Car.
There are also proper board games against the computer: Checkers, Four in a Row and Tic-Tac-Toe. The computer plays fairly and at a child's level, and most of them have a two-player mode on one screen. Nothing is timed unless the game says so, and there are no hints to buy — if it is hard, it is meant to be.
