Place Value is a hands-on number game with friendly blocks that have happy faces. The mat has a column for tens and a column for ones, and the number to make is shown with its digits in the columns' colours. Tap the box of rods or the box of cubes and a block hops onto the mat while each column counts its blocks, so children can simply match 1 and 3 to make 13. Ten cubes stick together into a ten with a sparkle. Other turns show the blocks and ask which number they make. One block too many is only a gentle wiggle: tap it to send it back. Numbers start at 1 to 20, then grow to 99 and later hundreds. Every stage visits a new place and wins new blocks.
