How to play
Tap a glowing lily pad to hop your piece there.
Then tap any empty pad to block it with a water lily.
Trap little Platypus so it can't step anywhere.
Win 2 rounds to finish a level and win a new piece.
Blockade is a classic two-player strategy board game, remade for kids with Platypus as a friendly computer opponent. Your glossy toy piece and a little Platypus stand on a board of lily pads floating on a riverbank pond. On your turn you do two things: step your piece one pad, then block any empty pad, and a water lily or a clump of reeds pops up there with a boing. Trap little Platypus so it has nowhere left to step, and you win the round. The pads you can hop to glow, so even a four-year-old knows what to do, and in the first levels Platypus plays kindly and always leaves you a way out. Ten levels each bring one new idea: rocks on the board, a bigger 6 by 6 board, corner-way (diagonal) steps, stars to collect, slippery lily pads that slide you one more pad, a 7 by 7 board, and a Platypus that thinks one and then two steps ahead, across four places: a fresh morning, a tropical lagoon, a pastel twilight and the golden hour. Win a new piece to play as every level, from a frog and a duck to a ladybird and a butterfly, play the Star Hop bonus round, learn a true animal fact, and pass the device to a friend for a two-player game with Platypus as the referee.
