How to play
Look at the goal picture at the top: what needs to go up or move?
Tap a picture at the bottom to choose the ramp, pivot, pulley, wheel or gears.
Watch the machine work. If it's too heavy, try another part; the one that works glows.
Finish a stage to win a new paint for your machines.
Simple Machines is a hands-on science game where Wombat the inventor helps Quokka lift heavy things. Each puzzle has a picture goal: roll a cart of fruit up to Koala's treehouse, lift a crate, raise a flag, send a ball along to Koala or spin a ride fast. Tap a picture to choose the part, then watch the machine really work: a gentler ramp, a see-saw pivot moved closer to the load, one pulley or two, a bigger handle wheel, or gears that turn the other way. If a choice can't do it, the game shows what happens ("Too heavy!") and the part that works lights up, so nothing is ever lost. Every stage adds a new machine and wins a new machine paint, across a sunny park, the seaside, snowy hills, candy land and a starry night. A friendly voice reads the goals and explains why each machine helps, so children who can't read yet can play. It suits ages four to ten. Our tip: when something is too heavy, look for the choice that makes the push longer or shares the load.
