Questions parents ask
Which of these games help with grade 1 maths?
Math Race (adding and subtracting), Number Bonds, Skip Counting, Clock Reader, Coin Counter and Sudoku. They cover most of a typical grade 1 number curriculum.
My child cannot read well yet — will they manage?
Yes. Every game shows what to do with pictures and a short "How to play" strip before the first round, and a tap on any hint reads it aloud. Reading games use pictures alongside the words.
Is there a leaderboard or online play?
No. Scores stay on the device, two-player games are on the same screen, and there is no chat or contact with other players anywhere on the site.

Grade 1 (Year 1 or 2 in the UK, six to seven years old) is when children move from counting to calculating: adding and subtracting within 20, skip counting, reading the clock, and handling coins. Reading is taking off too — rhymes, spelling simple words, and reading a short instruction on their own. The games here match that, and they are quick: a round of Math Race or Clock Reader is a couple of minutes, which is about right for a school-night.
This is also the age most children discover the classics for the first time, and we have kept them gentle: Snake, which starts slow, Paddle Ball against a computer that does not crush you, Tic-Tac-Toe you can play with a parent. Between the maths and the classics there are dozens of games on this page — use the kind filters if you are looking for something particular.
