About this sheet
Ten Halloween words are hiding in this 10 by 10 letter grid: pumpkin, ghost, bat, candy, moon, owl, cat, star, acorn and treat. Every word runs straight across or straight down, never backwards or on a slant, so it suits early readers aged 5–8. Each word in the list has its own little picture beside it, which helps children who are still learning to read. Encourage them to look for the first letter, then check the next ones, and to circle each word and tick it off the list. It's a calm activity for a classroom Halloween party or a rainy afternoon, and the pictures can be colored once the search is done. Print on plain A4. Then find more words on screen in Word Search.
