About this sheet

Six Halloween picture sums make adding easy to see. In each row there are two groups of cute pictures, pumpkins, ghosts, bats, wrapped sweets, owls or stars, with a plus sign between them. Children count the first group, count on through the second, and write the total in the box. Every sum stays within 10, so it suits children aged 5–7 who are starting to add. Encourage them to say the whole sum out loud, for example two pumpkins and three more pumpkins make five, and older children can write the number sentence underneath. The pictures are ready to color once the answers are in. The answers are 5, 5, 6, 7, 7 and 8. Print on plain A4. For more adding on screen, play Math Race.
