About this sheet

Six Christmas picture sums make adding easy to see. In each row there are two groups of pictures, trees, presents, stars, bells, snowflakes or ornaments, with a plus sign between them. Children count the first group, count on through the second, and write the total in the box. Every sum stays within 10, so it suits children aged 5 to 7 who are starting to add. Say the whole sum out loud, for example two trees and three more trees make five, and older children can write the number sentence underneath. The answers are 5, 6, 8, 4, 7 and 6. Print on plain A4.
