About this sheet

Three smiling butterflies flutter over a flower garden on this butterfly coloring page, each with large wings full of hearts, circles and swirls to color. A friendly ladybird sits on a leaf, and little hearts float in the air between the flowers. Butterfly wings are a great way to learn about symmetry: color one wing, then match the same colors on the other side. The patterns are big enough for children aged 4–8, and older ones can add dots and stripes of their own. Talk about how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly, and count the spots on the ladybird. Print on plain A4 and use bright crayons or felt tips. Afterwards, try Colour by Number, where every number has its own color and a picture appears as you fill it in.
